We brought together visionaries and early adopters from the public blockchain space to appreciate how we can apply their learnings from the decentralised world to the “centralised” finance world: Is decentralising CBDCs a visionary move towards enabling next-generation settlement systems? Or is it completely irreconcilable, when central to CBDCs and fiat money is that it is issued by a central bank, a trusted central party? How do we resolve this paradox, and can this lead to better ways of thinking about financial infrastructures?
