AI-driven net zero: A case-based approach for decarbonisation and climate risk mitigation

This report emphasizes the urgency of hastening the transition to a net-zero economy to meet Paris Agreement targets, as the global annual decarbonization rate in 2022 fell significantly short at 2.5%, compared to the required 17.2%. Recognizing this disparity, the Elevandi Insights Forum organized a roundtable titled "AI-driven net zero: A case-based approach for decarbonization and climate risk mitigation" on November 14, 2023. Bringing together 14 global leaders and experts from diverse sectors, the roundtable, chaired by Professor Mohan Kankanhalli and moderated by Karan Dhanwani, explored the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in accelerating the net-zero agenda.

This report communicates key insights from the roundtable, showcasing various AI use cases to measure, model, and reduce carbon emissions across sectors. It also highlights critical factors such as vertical integration, governance, standardization, and collaboration as essential components for successful AI deployment in sustainability initiatives.
